In mid-January, Spectrum celebrated its partnership with Biostar NutriProducts, Inc. The licensed distributor and manufacturer of animal health products had a 24.96 kWp solar facility installed on their poultry farm in San Pablo City, Laguna.

The facility has already generated about 21,500 kWh of clean energy within 8 months—translating to around PHP167,000 of savings. Through this, they also reduced their carbon footprint by a little over 15 tonnes—equivalent to planting more than 700 trees or lessening vehicle travel by 61,000 kilometers within the same timeframe.

Agriculture is responsible for about 30% of the world’s total energy consumption. As in the Philippines, the Agriculture and Fishery sector has significantly increased their energy demand over the past decades. Considering alternative sources of energy such as solar will not only help them generate their own electricity, but it will also reduce their dependency on fossil fuels.

"Through solar energy, we, in Spectrum, aim to give our customers more control over their finances by lessening their electricity bills. The savings from this can then be reallocated to other aspects of the business such as further enhancing business operations by improving existing facilities, or procuring more and better products.” said Patrick Henry T. Panlilio, Chief Operating Officer of Spectrum.

Spectrum offers tailor-fit solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential customers through an in-depth understanding of energy consumption behaviors and strategic partnerships with world-class technology partners.
