Spectrum, a renewable energy arm of Meralco, has collaborated with the city government of Marikina in installing a solar installation in their Finance building.

Last December 1, 2021, The Marikina city government celebrated the energization of their newly established 55.44kWp solar facility. This is the start of their journey towards greener future.

“We are hoping that by modeling the use of solar panels, we will encourage Marikina businesses and private entities to convert to alternative and renewable sources of energy.” Said the current mayor of Marikina City.

The solar system is expected to generate approximately 72,848 kWh. This translates to PHP424,797 in annual savings and also corresponds to an estimated 52 tons in carbon footprint reduction. This is equivalent to over 100,000 trees planted over 20 years.

The solar facility benefits from Meralco’s net-metering program, allowing the Finance building to export any excess electricity they generate to the grid, thus being credited to them. This would reflect in their next electricity bill.

The Marikina City Government, Meralco, and Spectrum will continue to strive for a greener, more sustainable future through solar!
